The Senior Mechanical Materials Handler leads and manages the comprehensive packaging, storage, and preservation activities of industrial valves and mechanical components. This senior role ensures optimal material integrity, coordinates large-scale warehouse operations, enforces compliance with international standards, and mentors junior staff to maintain high-quality standards in mechanical materials management.
Develop and implement packaging and preservation strategies for valves and mechanical parts to prevent corrosion, contamination, and physical damage.
Ensure compliance with API, ASME, and project-specific preservation standards.
Monitor and optimize the use of preservation materials and packaging supplies, controlling costs and inventory.
Oversee accurate tagging, labeling, and traceability of mechanical materials, ensuring alignment with procurement and QA/QC documentation.
Review and approve receiving and dispatch records, material inspection reports, and preservation logs.
Manage ERP/WMS data integrity related to mechanical materials storage and handling.
Lead the organization and allocation of warehouse space for optimal storage of valves and mechanical equipment.
Supervise and coordinate material movement using heavy equipment (forklifts, cranes) ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections of stored items to ensure compliance with preservation protocols.
Mentor, train, and supervise a team of materials handlers and warehouse personnel to ensure best practices in material care.
Collaborate with procurement, QA/QC, engineering, and project management teams to address material handling challenges and ensure smooth workflow.
Represent the warehouse/materials function in client audits, inspections, and quality reviews.
Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and safety standards in all warehouse activities.
Lead initiatives for process improvement, waste reduction, and risk mitigation related to materials handling and preservation.
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or related discipline preferred
7+ years in mechanical materials handling, packaging, and preservation in oil & gas, EPC, or heavy industrial sectors
Proven leadership experience in warehouse or materials management environments
Forklift and heavy equipment operation certification
API 6D/ASME preservation or quality awareness training
Safety and warehouse management certifications
Expert knowledge of valve types, preservation standards, and mechanical material handling
Strong leadership, planning, and organizational abilities
Proficient in ERP/WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) for inventory and materials management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
