The Junior Mechanical Materials Handler is responsible for managing the packaging, storage, and preservation of industrial valves and mechanical components with greater independence and accuracy. This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring proper handling, identification, preservation, and organization of materials in compliance with project and quality standards.
Independently prepare valves and mechanical components for storage and shipment using appropriate packaging materials and preservation techniques (rust inhibitors, protective wraps).
Ensure all items are properly preserved to prevent corrosion, damage, and contamination during storage or transit.
Monitor and maintain packaging material inventory.
Accurately label and tag materials with batch numbers, heat numbers, and project codes.
Maintain precise records of packaging and storage activities in warehouse management systems or logs.
Verify material identification against delivery and inventory documents.
Coordinate and execute the movement and storage of mechanical materials using forklifts or pallet jacks (certification preferred).
Organize storage areas according to project requirements, material type, and handling protocols.
Conduct routine inspections of stored valves for integrity and preservation status.
Liaise with procurement, QA/QC, and warehouse teams regarding material conditions and inventory status.
Report any damages, discrepancies, or preservation issues to supervisors promptly.
Assist in inventory audits and physical stock counts.
Follow all safety protocols and participate actively in training sessions related to material handling and preservation.
Suggest improvements to packaging and storage processes to enhance material protection and warehouse efficiency.
High School Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Trades, Logistics, or Warehouse Operations (Required)
Diploma or Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Advantageous)
1β3 years in material handling, packaging, or warehouse roles preferably within mechanical, oil & gas, or EPC sectors
Familiarity with industrial valves and mechanical components
Knowledge of packaging materials, preservation techniques, and storage best practices
Ability to operate material handling equipment safely (forklift certification preferred)
Proficient in maintaining accurate records and handling basic warehouse software
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and good communication skills
