Job Title: Mechanical Materials Handler – Packaging, Storage, Preservation of Valves

Position Summary

The Mechanical Materials Handler is responsible for assisting in the safe handling, packaging, storage, and preservation of industrial valves and mechanical components. This role supports material logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring proper identification, protection, and organization of incoming and outgoing equipment as per handling standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

📦 Packaging & Preservation

  • Assist in wrapping, boxing, or crating valves using appropriate materials (e.g., VCI, plastic, foam, wood) to prevent corrosion and damage.

  • Apply rust-preventive treatments and preservation tags on metallic components.

  • Help ensure that delicate or high-value items are handled according to packaging procedures.

🏷️ Identification & Labeling

  • Affix tags, barcodes, or identification labels to valves and parts based on material codes, heat numbers, or project batch numbers.

  • Cross-check physical labels with warehouse documentation and material receiving reports.

🏗️ Storage & Material Movement

  • Assist in organizing mechanical equipment in racking or floor storage areas using pallet jacks, forklifts (under supervision), or manual handling.

  • Follow layout drawings and designated zones to separate stored items by type, project, or delivery stage.

  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the mechanical storage area.

📝 Coordination & Recordkeeping

  • Support the warehouse/logistics team in tracking inbound/outbound materials.

  • Record packaging and storage activities using checklists or digital logs under supervision.

  • Notify supervisors of any material discrepancies or damage.

📚 Learning & Development

  • Learn safe handling techniques, valve preservation methods, and basic material identification.

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-the-job training sessions.


Qualifications

🎓 Education

  • High School Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Trades, Logistics, or Warehouse Operations (Required)

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred but not mandatory)

📅 Experience

  • 0–1 year (internships or training in warehouse/logistics/mechanical material handling are a plus)


Skills & Competencies

  • Basic understanding of valve types and mechanical parts (preferred)

  • Willingness to work in a warehouse or outdoor storage environment

  • Physically fit, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and packaging equipment

  • Team player with a proactive, responsible attitude
