Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all mechanical systems within our facility. You will lead the troubleshooting of complex mechanical issues, coordinate preventive maintenance programs, and ensure machine reliability and performance are optimized. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to guide and mentor junior team members to enhance the overall maintenance department's efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Supervision:

    • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of mechanical maintenance technicians, providing technical guidance, training, and support.
    • Prioritize, delegate, and coordinate maintenance tasks to ensure that machinery and equipment operate at peak performance.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to improve team members' technical skills and productivity.
  2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform high-level diagnostics on mechanical systems, such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
    • Lead the troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical failures, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
    • Manage complex repairs and system upgrades to improve machinery reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
  3. Preventive Maintenance and System Optimization:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and strategies to ensure that machinery remains operational and reliable.
    • Monitor machine performance data to identify trends, assess system health, and proactively resolve potential issues before they become critical.
    • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and performance of machinery and equipment.
  4. Equipment Installation and Calibration:

    • Oversee the installation, setup, and calibration of new equipment and machinery, ensuring correct configuration for optimized performance.
    • Support the engineering team in integrating new systems and technologies into existing equipment, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
  5. Quality Control and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance activities meet company quality standards and comply with industry regulations and safety protocols.
    • Conduct periodic safety audits, equipment safety checks, and assist in ensuring that the facility maintains compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for auditing purposes.
  6. Resource Management:

    • Manage parts and materials inventory, ensuring that essential components are readily available for repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Work with procurement to order necessary spare parts and manage inventory levels to avoid production delays.
  7. Training and Development:

    • Provide on-the-job training to junior maintenance technicians, helping them develop troubleshooting skills and improve their overall knowledge of mechanical systems.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and maintenance strategies to continuously improve skills and share knowledge with the team.
  8. Reporting and Communication:

    • Prepare and present detailed reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, downtime, and safety issues to senior management.
    • Communicate effectively with other departments, including production and engineering, to ensure smooth coordination of maintenance tasks and production goals.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Preventive Maintenance Strategy:

    • Lead the design and implementation of an effective preventive maintenance program to ensure all mechanical equipment operates efficiently and reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
  2. Troubleshooting and Complex Problem Solving:

    • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical issues, leveraging your expertise to resolve system failures quickly and effectively.
  3. Optimization and Efficiency:

    • Identify and implement improvements to mechanical systems and processes that drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall operational performance.
  4. Team Leadership and Mentorship:

    • Develop and maintain a highly skilled team of maintenance technicians through mentoring, training, and leadership, ensuring high levels of performance and technical competency.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
    • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Strong expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, gears, HVAC systems, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, and conveyors.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals.
    • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  3. Leadership and Soft Skills:

    • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing, training, and mentoring a team of technicians.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues independently.
    • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with other departments and report to senior management.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Certifications in mechanical maintenance, machinery repair, or industrial safety (e.g., OSHA, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
    • Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or similar certifications are a plus.
