Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Mid-Level Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. You will work independently and alongside other technicians to ensure all machinery operates efficiently, minimizing downtime and maintaining production schedules. This position requires technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and other production machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems, identify root causes, and make necessary repairs to restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Perform inspections to detect wear and tear on machinery, ensuring timely maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
Machine Setup and Calibration:
- Set up and calibrate machines and equipment according to technical specifications for production runs.
- Adjust machine settings and parameters to optimize efficiency and product quality during production.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues, using both hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic tools to assess machine performance.
- Work with senior maintenance technicians and engineers to address complex problems, improve equipment reliability, and reduce downtime.
Maintenance Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and machine performance.
- Report machine performance issues, recurring faults, or system inefficiencies to the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are documented in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while working with machines and in the maintenance environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies when performing maintenance tasks.
- Participate in safety audits, equipment safety checks, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Process Improvement and Efficiency:
- Assist in identifying opportunities for improving maintenance processes, reducing downtime, and increasing the efficiency of mechanical systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimize machine performance and production workflows.
- Suggest and implement improvements to maintenance schedules, parts inventory, and maintenance practices to reduce overall costs.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with operators, production teams, and quality control teams to ensure smooth machine operations.
- Provide technical support to the production team and help resolve machine-related production issues.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving maintenance and production efficiency.

- Lead and perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure machines and equipment remain in good working order, minimizing unexpected breakdowns.

- Monitor machine performance, analyze trends, and make adjustments to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce downtime.
Problem-Solving and Technical Expertise:
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues independently, taking a hands-on approach to diagnosing complex issues and finding effective solutions.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and standards, actively contributing to maintaining a safe work environment for all team members.
Training and Mentorship:
- Mentor junior maintenance technicians, helping them develop their skills in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, or service, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, gears, and hydraulics.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance techniques.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues independently.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with operators, engineers, and production teams.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring that maintenance work is performed to high standards and documentation is accurately maintained.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certifications in mechanical systems, machine maintenance, or industrial safety are a plus (e.g., OSHA, Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or other process optimization methodologies is beneficial.
