Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in our manufacturing facility. You will work under the supervision of senior technicians and maintenance managers, learning about mechanical systems while gaining hands-on experience in the field. Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance Assistance:

   • Assist in conducting preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery to ensure efficient operation.
   • Support in maintaining mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and other machinery used in production.
   • Help with routine maintenance activities, including checking and replacing parts as needed to ensure equipment reliability.

2. Troubleshooting and Repairs:

   • Help diagnose mechanical issues by following troubleshooting procedures under the guidance of senior technicians.
   • Assist in repairing faulty mechanical components, such as motors, belts, gears, and valves, and learn to replace or adjust parts when necessary.
   • Work with the team to ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime and support uninterrupted production.

3. Machine Setup and Calibration:

   • Support in setting up and calibrating machines for production runs according to technical specifications.
   • Assist in checking machine parameters and settings to ensure they are within proper tolerances and production standards.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, inspections conducted, and parts used.
   • Report any recurring issues or machinery malfunctions to senior technicians or supervisors for further analysis and action.
   • Prepare basic maintenance reports for documentation purposes and to keep supervisors updated on the status of equipment.

5. Safety Compliance:

   • Follow established safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance tasks.
   • Ensure that all maintenance work is done according to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
   • Identify and report safety hazards or potential risks to supervisors and help maintain a safe working environment.

6. Learning and Development:

   • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance mechanical maintenance skills and knowledge.
   • Work with senior technicians to learn about troubleshooting techniques, machine repair, and preventive maintenance practices.
   • Take initiative to learn about new tools, equipment, and maintenance practices that will improve job performance and efficiency.

7. Team Collaboration:

   • Work closely with other maintenance team members, operators, and production staff to ensure smooth operations.
   • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address mechanical issues promptly and effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Educational Requirements:

   • High school diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
   • 1 - 2 years of experience or coursework in mechanical maintenance or machine operation is preferred

2. Technical Skills:

   • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, components, and machinery.
   • Familiarity with common hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in mechanical maintenance.
   • Ability to read basic technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals related to machinery and equipment.

3. Soft Skills:

   • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in maintenance tasks and quality of work.
   • Good communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with team members.
   • A willingness to learn and develop mechanical maintenance skills.
   • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

   • Any certifications related to machine operation, maintenance, or safety protocols would be an advantage.
   • Familiarity with workplace safety practices and certifications (e.g., OSHA) is beneficial.
