The Senior Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is a high-impact leader responsible for overseeing mechanical maintenance across all critical production and utility systems within the plant. This role leads a team of technicians, drives preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and ensures mechanical equipment performs safely, efficiently, and reliably. The senior supervisor partners closely with Engineering, Production, Reliability, and EHS to lead root cause investigations, implement improvements, and support capital projects. This position serves as a key technical authority in mechanical systems and plays a critical role in asset reliability and team development.
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 8–15 mechanical technicians across multiple shifts or departments.
Conduct performance evaluations, skill assessments, and development plans to build technical bench strength.
Ensure staffing coverage, shift handoff communication, and coordination of maintenance resources.
Own and drive the execution of the plant's mechanical preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Ensure work orders are properly prioritized, executed, and documented using CMMS.
Lead complex mechanical troubleshooting and ensure long-term corrective actions are implemented.
Collaborate with Reliability Engineers and cross-functional teams to reduce mechanical failures and extend equipment life.
Lead RCAs for chronic or high-impact mechanical issues, and drive corrective and preventive action plans.
Analyze maintenance trends and recommend upgrades, retrofits, or standardization efforts.
Provide mechanical input to equipment design, installation, and commissioning as part of capital or expansion projects.
Oversee contractor activities and ensure mechanical work meets safety, quality, and design standards.
Manage small-scale mechanical improvement projects independently.
Enforce compliance with OSHA, LOTO, machine guarding, and hot work standards during all maintenance activities.
Promote and ensure adherence to GMPs, HACCP, and food safety protocols in mechanical systems.
Participate in EHS audits, support regulatory inspections, and lead mechanical risk assessments.
Implement TPM, 5S, and Lean Maintenance practices within mechanical teams.
Standardize tools, documentation, and mechanical repair procedures across shifts or departments.
Identify and recommend technology solutions (sensors, monitoring tools, etc.) to enhance reliability.
