The Junior Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor supports the daily execution of mechanical maintenance activities within a manufacturing facility. Working under the guidance of senior supervisors or the maintenance manager, this role oversees a small team of technicians to ensure timely repair, inspection, and upkeep of production and facility equipment. The supervisor ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and promotes safe, GMP-compliant work practices.
Coordinate daily mechanical maintenance tasks, repairs, and routine inspections for production equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, and piping.
Assign work orders and monitor progress to ensure timely completion and quality standards.
Perform hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and assist technicians when needed.
Support and enforce preventive maintenance (PM) schedules through the facility's CMMS.
Ensure accurate documentation of PM tasks, findings, and corrective actions.
Identify opportunities to improve PM plans based on recurring failures or inefficiencies.
Provide daily oversight of 2–5 mechanical technicians, including task delegation and technical support.
Help train junior team members on mechanical repair techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Conduct basic performance feedback and assist with scheduling and shift coverage.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations (OSHA), GMPs, and company policies.
Support lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and safe hot work practices.
Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
Work closely with production, sanitation, and quality teams to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment-related disruptions.
Communicate equipment status, maintenance delays, or urgent needs during shift changes and daily meetings.

Technical diploma or associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology is a plus
2–4 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
At least 6–12 months of experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred
Working knowledge of mechanical systems: motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals
Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, eMaint, MP2) and maintenance documentation
Strong attention to detail, work planning, and follow-through
Effective communicator with technicians and cross-functional peers
Willingness to be hands-on and lead by example
