The Senior Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor provides strategic leadership and oversight for all mechanical maintenance activities. This role is accountable for maximizing asset reliability, driving continuous improvement initiatives, leading major shutdowns/turnarounds, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Senior Supervisor mentors maintenance teams, develops maintenance strategies, and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to meet operational goals.
Strategic Maintenance Planning & Execution
Define and oversee multi-year maintenance strategies for critical mechanical assets (pumps, compressors, conveyors, HVAC, piping systems).
Lead the planning and execution of major shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital maintenance projects.
Leadership & Team Development
Manage, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and technicians (10–20+ personnel); establish performance metrics and succession plans.
Drive competency building through advanced training (e.g., vibration analysis certification, PLC maintenance, root-cause methodologies).
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Champion reliability engineering initiatives, including RCFA, FMEA, and Kaizen events to reduce failure modes and maintenance costs.
Implement and optimize predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, motor current signature).
Performance Monitoring & Analytics
Establish and monitor KPIs—MTBF, MTTR, planned vs. unplanned maintenance ratio, maintenance cost per unit; present actionable insights to leadership.
Utilize CMMS data and dashboards for trend analysis and decision-making.
Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance
Enforce EHS protocols (LOTO, PTW, hazard assessments); lead incident investigations and ensure corrective action closure.
Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations (OSHA, ISO 9001/14001, NFPA).
Budget & Resource Management
Develop and manage maintenance budgets, optimize spare-parts inventory strategy, and negotiate service contracts with vendors.
Allocate labor and materials effectively to achieve cost and uptime targets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance to align maintenance initiatives with business objectives.
Prepare and deliver executive-level reports on asset health, project status, and continuous improvement outcomes.
