Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Mid-Level to join our engineering and maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment within our facility. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of equipment, reducing downtime and enhancing overall plant performance. As a mid-level engineer, you will assist in managing maintenance schedules, lead smaller projects, and collaborate with other departments to ensure the reliability and performance of machinery.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting of Mechanical Systems:

    • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, HVAC systems, compressors, and other critical machinery.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and that equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
    • Assist in diagnosing complex equipment failures using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and hands-on troubleshooting techniques.
  2. Preventive Maintenance Program:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for mechanical systems, ensuring that routine maintenance tasks are carried out on time and in compliance with best practices.
    • Monitor equipment performance and track maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality and longevity of machinery.
    • Analyze equipment performance data to predict future maintenance needs and plan accordingly to avoid system breakdowns.
  3. Project Management and Implementation:

    • Assist in planning and executing maintenance projects, including equipment upgrades, replacements, and installations.
    • Coordinate with other departments, such as operations and engineering, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during the execution of maintenance projects.
  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance processes.
    • Identify and implement modifications or upgrades to mechanical systems to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Support the development of new procedures or techniques to enhance maintenance practices and extend the life of equipment.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all mechanical maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
    • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and safety training to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, part replacements, and equipment performance.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of equipment, maintenance work completed, and any outstanding issues.
    • Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance work is available for future reference and compliance purposes.
  7. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to address equipment issues, provide technical support, and ensure smooth operations.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior maintenance staff, assisting with training and mentoring as needed.
    • Participate in meetings to discuss equipment status, upcoming projects, and potential improvements.

  1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Oversee the maintenance of mechanical systems and resolve any issues, ensuring that systems operate at maximum efficiency and reliability.
  2. Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Optimization:

    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  3. Project Management and Execution:

    • Assist in managing and executing mechanical maintenance projects, ensuring successful completion within timeline and budget.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety standards, promoting a safe working environment.
  5. Team Collaboration and Support:

    • Work closely with other engineering and operations teams to provide technical expertise and support.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • Any additional certifications in mechanical systems, maintenance, or safety procedures is a plus.
  2. Experience:

    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, HVAC, conveyors, and compressors.
    • Proven experience in executing preventive maintenance programs and managing maintenance schedules.
  3. Skills:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize a variety of mechanical systems.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting mechanical issues.
    • Good project management skills with the ability to lead small projects and coordinate with other departments.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • OSHA or similar safety certifications.
    • Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications are a plus.
    • Certifications in specialized equipment maintenance (HVAC, pumps, motors, etc.) are an advantage.
