The Senior Mechanical Logistics Technician is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end logistics, crating, and packaging operations of industrial valves and mechanical components for project and export dispatch. This role ensures that all logistics activities comply with international packaging, preservation, and transportation standards (ISPM-15, API, ASTM), while minimizing damage, delays, and non-conformities.
Lead planning and coordination of domestic and international shipments for mechanical and valve equipment.
Interface with freight forwarders, customs agents, and project logistics leads for schedule alignment.
Review and approve all transport-related documentation (delivery notes, export forms, packing lists).
Supervise crating of valves using advanced preservation techniques (VCI, RPO coatings, barrier foils).
Approve packing plans and ensure compliance with ISPM-15, ASTM D3951, and client-specific specs.
Lead inspections of crate integrity, tie-down methods, and valve protection pre-dispatch.
Direct on-ground loading operations for sensitive or high-value mechanical assets.
Assess and implement lift plans using slings, forklifts, or cranes in compliance with safety protocols.
Coordinate damage mitigation procedures and reporting for any logistics-related NCs (non-conformities).
Ensure accurate ERP/WMS entries of dispatch, preservation, and crate serial numbers.
Maintain logistics dashboards, export logs, and traceability records for client audits and QA/QC checks.
Train and supervise junior technicians in documentation and packaging compliance.
Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and logistics improvement sessions.
Support audits (internal/external) by ensuring documentation and processes are fully traceable and up to date.
Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for valve crating, packaging, and transport within the warehouse.
Diploma or Bachelorβs in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or Industrial Operations
Certifications in forklift, rigging, or ISPM-15 crating standards are strongly preferred
5β8+ years in logistics of mechanical equipment, valves, or rotating/static equipment
Experience in oil & gas, EPC, or industrial manufacturing/logistics environments
Deep knowledge of valve types, preservation standards, and packaging risks
Strong experience with transport documentation and ERP (SAP, Oracle)
Leadership in handling export logistics and warehouse dispatch
Safety-focused, with expertise in handling and lifting protocols for heavy equipment
Clear communication, mentoring skills, and documentation accuracy
Familiarity with international shipping, INCO terms, and crating regulations
