Job Title: Mechanical Logistics Technician – Transport Coordination & Crating of Valves
Job Summary:
The Mid-Level Mechanical Logistics Technician plays a critical role in coordinating transport and executing proper crating, packaging, and handling of industrial valves and mechanical components. The role ensures compliance with client, project, and international shipping standards (API, ASTM, ISPM-15), with a focus on transport safety, traceability, and preservation integrity for mechanical assets.
Key Responsibilities
🚚 Transport Coordination

Schedule and coordinate internal and external movement of valves and mechanical assemblies.

Liaise with logistics service providers for pick-up, routing, and delivery planning.

Ensure transport documentation (e.g., waybills, delivery notes, export declarations) is accurate and complete.
📦 Crating & Mechanical Packaging

Supervise and perform packing of valves using wood crating, foam inserts, VCI wraps, and desiccants.

Ensure all crates comply with ISPM-15 standards and are labeled for handling, orientation, and weight.

Apply RPO and other preservation methods before packing long-storage or export items.
🏗️ Material Movement & Loading

Oversee mechanical loading of packed valves using cranes, forklifts, and slings.

Ensure correct stacking, tie-down, and protection during transportation and storage.

Conduct visual inspections of packaging and handling to avoid in-transit damage.
📄 Documentation & ERP Entry

Maintain crating logs, packing checklists, shipment trackers, and preservation records.

Update SAP, Oracle, or other ERP/WMS systems with dispatch and logistics entries.

Support QA/QC with required shipping inspection documentation (photos, seals, traceability tags).
🛠️ Process Compliance & Safety

Follow and enforce compliance with safety, lifting, and mechanical transport protocols.

Assist in internal audits and continuous improvement of logistics handling procedures.

Support junior technicians and subcontractors during peak loading or dispatch phases.
Qualifications
🎓 Education
-
Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or Industrial Operations

Crating/packing or logistics certifications (e.g., ISPM-15, forklift safety) preferred
📅 Experience

3–5 years in mechanical logistics, heavy equipment dispatch, or industrial packing

Background in oil & gas, manufacturing, or EPC logistics preferred
Skills & Competencies

Proficient in industrial packing and preservation techniques

Good knowledge of valve types, dimensions, and fragility risks

Familiarity with transport laws, packaging standards (ASTM, API), and international shipping norms

ERP or WMS system experience (SAP, Oracle, Infor)
-
Physically fit and certified for forklift/crane use (preferred)

Strong documentation, teamwork, and time management skills
