Job Title: Mechanical Helper
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Mechanical Helper to join our engineering team. In this role, you will assist senior mechanics with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment on marine vessels or facilities. With your experience and mechanical skills, you will support more complex maintenance tasks and help ensure that all systems are functioning efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems such as engines, propulsion, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues with guidance from senior mechanics, ensuring systems and machinery are operating efficiently.
- Assist in overhauls and installations of new mechanical systems or components under the supervision of senior staff.
System Inspections and Diagnostics:
- Conduct inspections of mechanical systems and equipment, checking for wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical failures using tools and diagnostic equipment, identifying issues and performing repairs or adjustments to restore functionality.
- Support more advanced troubleshooting and repairs by following directions from senior mechanics and providing assistance with complex systems.
Operational Support:
- Help operate diagnostic equipment, such as pressure gauges, flow meters, and vibration analyzers, to monitor system performance and identify issues.
- Assist in performing pressure tests, engine checks, and other operational tests to ensure the mechanical systems are in optimal working condition.
- Help adjust and calibrate mechanical systems as needed to improve performance and meet operational requirements.
Tool and Equipment Handling:
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment, assisting with their upkeep and repair as needed.
- Help keep tools and equipment organized and ensure they are in good working condition for each task.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols while working with mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring personal and team safety at all times.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety guidelines while performing maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies while working on projects and repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of work performed, including inspections, maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts used.
- Assist with creating reports for supervisors and senior mechanics regarding the condition of equipment, completed work, and any outstanding issues or recommendations.
Collaboration and Team Support:
- Work closely with senior mechanics and other members of the maintenance team to complete tasks efficiently and ensure quality work.
- Mentor and assist junior mechanical helpers or trainees, helping them develop their skills and knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing tasks, issues, and priorities, ensuring all team members are aligned on the maintenance schedule.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in mechanical engineering or related fields is preferred.
- Additional certifications or courses related to mechanical systems or maintenance would be an advantage.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, or operations, with a solid understanding of mechanical systems, engines, and equipment.
- Prior experience in the marine, industrial, or mechanical engineering sectors is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, repair techniques, and basic troubleshooting processes is essential.

Certifications (Preferred):
