Job Title: Senior Oil and Gas / Power Plant Mechanical Fitter
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oil and Gas / Power Plant Mechanical Fitter to join our team. In this senior-level role, you will take on leadership responsibilities, overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical systems used in oil and gas or power plant operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of mechanical equipment, troubleshooting advanced mechanical issues, and leading a team of fitters and technicians. As a senior fitter, you will mentor junior and mid-level fitters, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Installation and Maintenance:
- Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced mechanical systems and equipment such as pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, and engines used in oil and gas or power plant operations.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize the operational life and efficiency of mechanical systems.
- Ensure that all mechanical systems are installed and configured to the highest industry standards and project specifications.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex mechanical issues, using advanced diagnostic tools, manuals, and hands-on inspections.
- Take ownership of high-priority mechanical failures, ensuring rapid and effective resolution to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement corrective actions and improve overall system performance.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all mechanical work complies with the highest safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Perform detailed inspections on mechanical systems and components, ensuring they meet performance standards and compliance with codes such as ASME, API, ANSI, and others.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement processes to enhance the quality and reliability of mechanical systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate records for all work performed, including maintenance schedules, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Prepare and deliver detailed technical reports on system conditions, maintenance performance, and suggested improvements.
- Ensure that any safety or operational issues are promptly documented, and corrective actions are reported to management.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Lead a team of mechanical fitters, providing technical expertise, guidance, and support in the field.
- Mentor junior and mid-level fitters, helping them develop their technical skills, troubleshoot effectively, and follow safety protocols.
- Take responsibility for team training, ensuring team members stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring that all mechanical activities are carried out with the utmost focus on safety and risk mitigation.
- Lead safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk management initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, making sure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and safety protocols are followed.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical department, driving efforts to optimize processes, reduce downtime, and increase system reliability.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, tools, and methods in mechanical fitting and maintenance, applying innovations to improve operational performance.
- Lead the development of new maintenance procedures and strategies to address evolving industry demands.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications in mechanical fitting, welding, or safety are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance, and troubleshooting, with a strong background in oil and gas or power plant operations.
- Proven track record of leading complex mechanical projects, managing teams, and ensuring system reliability in critical environments.
- Extensive experience working with mechanical systems such as pumps, turbines, compressors, engines, and other industrial equipment.
Skills:
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude and leadership skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical faults.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Advanced knowledge of diagnostic tools and instruments used to assess mechanical systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams, management, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of managing high-pressure situations while maintaining safety and quality.
- Ability to lead teams effectively, mentor junior staff, and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
Certifications (Preferred):
- API, ASME, or other relevant certifications in mechanical fitting for oil and gas or power plant industries.
- Welding, pipefitting, or other specialized certifications.
- OSHA, First Aid, or other safety certifications.
