Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Supervisor to lead our mechanical maintenance team in ensuring the optimal performance of mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. In this senior-level role, you will be responsible for overseeing complex maintenance operations, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring that all mechanical systems operate efficiently, safely, and within industry standards. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff, managing projects, and continuously improving the maintenance processes. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone with advanced technical expertise and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of mechanical technicians, providing direction, training, and support to ensure the team’s success and continuous improvement.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor work performance to ensure efficient and high-quality maintenance work.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop training programs to enhance team members’ skills and knowledge.
- Manage team schedules, ensuring appropriate resources are allocated to meet operational needs and minimize downtime.
Advanced Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical systems such as pumps, turbines, compressors, and other large-scale industrial machinery.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical issues, employing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve problems quickly.
- Ensure that all repairs and replacements are carried out according to safety standards, operational requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
Preventive Maintenance and Reliability Management:
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to increase equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance operational efficiency and extend the lifespan of machinery.
- Lead condition monitoring programs and interpret data to proactively address potential mechanical failures before they impact operations.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Foster a culture of safety within the team, conducting safety training, risk assessments, and safety audits to ensure a safe working environment.
- Review and enforce safety protocols, ensuring the team uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows all safety procedures.
Project Management:
- Oversee and manage mechanical projects, including upgrades, installations, and system modifications, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination and execution of projects.
- Prepare project plans, allocate resources, track progress, and resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Manage the mechanical maintenance budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for repairs, parts, and labor.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings in maintenance activities without compromising quality or safety.
- Oversee the procurement of spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring the availability of required materials while controlling inventory costs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, parts usage, and equipment performance.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, outlining maintenance progress, project status, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Review and analyze maintenance data to identify trends, address recurring issues, and improve overall system reliability.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency, safety, and performance of mechanical systems.
- Stay informed about the latest industry developments, technologies, and best practices, and incorporate new methods or tools to improve maintenance operations.
- Encourage innovation and new ideas within the team, fostering a culture of improvement and problem-solving.

Preventive Maintenance and System Optimization:
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize system reliability and minimize downtime.
Project and Resource Management:
- Manage and oversee mechanical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Advanced certifications related to mechanical systems, project management, or safety (e.g., OSHA, PMP) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Extensive hands-on experience with large-scale industrial machinery and systems, such as turbines, compressors, pumps, and HVAC systems.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical systems, as well as leading maintenance teams.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, preventive maintenance practices, and diagnostic techniques.

Certifications (Preferred):
- Millwright certification, mechanical technician certification, or equivalent.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certifications.
