We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with mid-level experience to develop and optimize designs for marine equipment and structural components. The role involves creating detailed 3D models, performing engineering calculations, supporting project design reviews, and ensuring designs meet marine classification and safety standards. The candidate will collaborate closely with production, quality, and project teams to ensure manufacturability and operational reliability.
Develop detailed mechanical and structural designs for marine equipment such as winches, cranes, hull fittings, foundations, and support structures.
Prepare accurate 3D CAD models and 2D fabrication drawings using tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Siemens NX.
Perform engineering calculations related to structural integrity, stress analysis, fatigue, weight optimization, and material selection.
Review and verify design compliance with marine industry standards and classification society requirements (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s, etc.).
Support design reviews, change management, and documentation control.
Liaise with manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance to resolve design-related production issues.
Assist in the development of technical specifications and bills of materials.
Mentor junior design engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for design processes and tools.
Advanced CAD Modeling & Drafting: Create complex 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings suitable for marine fabrication.
Structural & Mechanical Analysis: Conduct strength and load calculations to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
Marine Standards Compliance: Ensure designs meet or exceed classification society and marine regulatory requirements.
Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Work closely with other engineering disciplines and production teams for design feasibility.
Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete design records and revision histories.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
3–6 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in marine, offshore, or heavy industry sectors.
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Siemens NX.
Experience with structural analysis software and FEA tools is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of marine classification standards and design codes.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience with marine equipment design (winches, cranes, hull structures).
Knowledge of materials and corrosion protection in marine environments.
Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and design change management.
Certification in relevant marine design standards or courses.
