The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads the mechanical design and engineering of complex fabricated systems for water treatment applications, including skids, piping assemblies, tanks, and modular units. This role is responsible for overseeing the full design lifecycle, ensuring strict compliance with industry codes and client standards, mentoring engineering staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, constructible designs that meet project schedules and budgets.
Lead and manage the mechanical design efforts for complex fabricated systems used in water treatment facilities.
Oversee development of detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings that align with process and structural requirements.
Coordinate design activities with process engineering, structural engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction teams.
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with relevant codes and standards (AWWA, ASME, ANSI, ASTM) and client specifications.
Perform design reviews, verification, and validation to maintain the highest standards of quality and constructability.
Resolve complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to design issues.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level design engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
Establish best practices for mechanical design, drafting, and documentation processes.
Lead design review sessions and provide clear technical guidance.
Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure design expectations are met and project goals achieved.
Participate in project meetings, status reporting, and risk management related to mechanical design.
Support proposal development and technical presentations as needed.

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
Experience:
8+ years of progressive mechanical design experience in water treatment, industrial fabrication, or related fields
Proven leadership in complex design projects involving skids, piping, tanks, and modular fabricated systems
Strong background in industry codes (AWWA, ASME, ANSI, ASTM) and fabrication standards
Skills:
Advanced proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent)
Excellent ability to interpret and create mechanical designs, specifications, and technical documentation
Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
Problem-solving expertise with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
Experience mentoring and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
