The Mid-Level Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for independently developing detailed mechanical designs and fabrication drawings for water treatment systems such as skids, piping assemblies, tanks, and modular units. This role requires strong technical knowledge, proficiency with CAD tools, and the ability to ensure designs comply with applicable codes and client specifications. The engineer will also collaborate closely with fabrication, procurement, and project teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D fabrication drawings for complex mechanical assemblies and systems used in water treatment.
Interpret process requirements and integrate mechanical design elements including piping, supports, tanks, and valve assemblies.
Prepare and review bills of materials (BOM), technical specifications, and design calculation documents.
Collaborate with process engineers, fabrication teams, and procurement to clarify design requirements and resolve technical issues.
Review vendor drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
Participate in and sometimes lead design review meetings, providing technical feedback and updates.
Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards such as AWWA, ASME, ANSI, and client specifications.
Conduct design validation and incorporate feedback from QA/QC and field teams.
Assist in troubleshooting design or fabrication issues encountered during construction or commissioning.
Support junior engineers by providing guidance on design best practices and CAD usage.
Engage in continuous professional development and keep current with industry trends and standards.
