The Junior Mechanical Design Engineer supports the design and development of fabricated mechanical systems, including skids, piping assemblies, tanks, and modular units used in water treatment facilities. This entry-level engineering role involves assisting in drafting, 3D modeling, and preparing detailed fabrication drawings under the guidance of senior engineers, while ensuring designs meet project specifications, codes, and standards.
Assist in creating 3D CAD models and 2D fabrication drawings of mechanical components and assemblies such as piping skids, frames, tanks, and valve systems.
Collaborate with senior engineers to incorporate design inputs, material specifications, and client requirements.
Update and revise existing designs based on feedback from fabrication, quality, and field teams.
Prepare and maintain bill of materials (BOM), parts lists, and technical specifications.
Support generation of design calculation packages and design validation documents.
Ensure documentation complies with relevant codes and standards (AWWA, ASME, ANSI).
Work closely with procurement, fabrication, and project management teams to clarify design intent and resolve technical issues.
Assist in reviewing vendor drawings and submittals related to mechanical components.
Participate in design review meetings and document action items.
Continuously develop knowledge of water treatment mechanical systems, fabrication processes, and relevant standards.
Attend training sessions and seek mentorship from senior design engineers.
