Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer (Fresher Level) to join our engineering team. As a fresher in this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and testing of aerospace mechanical systems, components, and structures. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with limited professional experience to gain hands-on experience in the aerospace engineering field while working alongside senior engineers. You will work on the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems used in aircraft, spacecraft, and other aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Modeling:
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for aerospace applications, including structures, propulsion systems, and mechanical linkages.
- Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of aerospace components.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to iterate on design solutions and refine mechanical designs for performance, safety, and manufacturability.
Engineering Analysis:
- Support the analysis of mechanical components and systems for stress, strain, fatigue, and thermal effects using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or similar analysis tools.
- Assist in performing basic structural and material analysis to ensure designs meet necessary performance specifications.
- Work with senior engineers to validate design performance through simulations and physical testing.
Prototyping and Testing Support:
- Help in the creation of prototypes for newly designed mechanical components and systems.
- Assist with the setup and execution of tests to validate design concepts and performance.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to support design improvements and modifications.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and drawings.
- Document test procedures and results, ensuring that all documentation is clear and meets internal and external standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to create design review presentations and updates.
Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components within larger systems.
- Participate in design reviews, meetings, and brainstorming sessions to offer input on mechanical design challenges and solutions.
Learning and Development:
- Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship under senior engineers to develop skills and knowledge in aerospace mechanical design.
- Continuously improve design skills by staying updated on aerospace engineering standards, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Take initiative in developing familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g., ASME, SAE, ASTM, MIL-SPEC).
Key Focus Areas:
Aerodynamics:
- Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
- Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
- Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
- Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
- Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Freshers or recent graduates are encouraged to apply; no prior professional experience is required.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and design.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles, including mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation tools is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes, materials, and design considerations for aerospace applications.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently when required.
- Eagerness to learn and develop engineering expertise in the aerospace field.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
- Certification in CAD software (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Associate) is a plus.
- Any additional certifications or courses related to aerospace engineering, mechanical design, or FEA software are beneficial.
