Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – Valves, Pumps, Skids

Job Summary:

The Junior Mechanical Assembler supports the assembly and integration of mechanical systems, including valves, pumps, piping, and skid-mounted units, used in water and wastewater treatment facilities. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with basic mechanical skills who are eager to gain hands-on experience assembling custom treatment equipment in a shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Assembly Support

  • Assist in assembling mechanical components such as valves, pumps, fittings, and brackets on skid frames or process modules.

  • Use basic hand tools, torque wrenches, drills, and other equipment to secure parts according to drawings or instructions.

  • Prepare and organize parts, hardware, and tools at the workstation.

System Integration Assistance

  • Help align and connect piping runs, gaskets, flanges, and support structures under supervision.

  • Assist with the routing and connection of tubing, hoses, and mechanical linkages.

  • Support the integration of subassemblies like manifolds, control valves, and motor mounts.

Documentation & Quality Checks

  • Follow work instructions, mechanical drawings, and assembly checklists.

  • Assist in checking assemblies for alignment, fit, and visible defects.

  • Help maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations.

Safety & Learning

  • Follow all shop safety rules and proper use of PPE.

  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.

  • Learn proper techniques and standards from senior assemblers and supervisors.


Key Focus Areas

  • Hands-on support of pump, valve, and skid system assembly

  • Learning mechanical assembly practices and shop safety

  • Collaborating with experienced technicians on build projects


Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Technical school coursework or interest in mechanical trades preferred

Certifications (Preferred):

  • OSHA 10 or basic shop safety training

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or maintenance

  • Internship or hands-on exposure in mechanical or plumbing trades a plus

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical components and tools

  • Good manual dexterity and ability to follow instructions

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
