Job Title: Materials Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Junior Materials Engineer (Aerospace) to join our aerospace engineering team. In this role, you will assist in selecting, testing, and analyzing materials used in aerospace systems, components, and structures. You will work closely with senior engineers and technical teams to ensure materials meet the performance, safety, and regulatory standards required for aerospace applications. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those with some professional experience to gain hands-on experience in materials science and contribute to cutting-edge aerospace projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Selection and Support:
- Assist senior engineers in selecting materials for various aerospace components, taking into account factors such as strength, weight, durability, and environmental resistance.
- Help evaluate the suitability of materials like metals, composites, and polymers for use in aerospace applications.
- Support the development of materials specifications, including mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
Testing and Analysis:
- Assist in the testing of materials to assess their properties, such as tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue performance.
- Help perform laboratory tests (e.g., tensile, fatigue, and impact testing) to ensure materials meet the necessary specifications for aerospace applications.
- Support the analysis of test data and assist in the identification of material-related issues, providing solutions or recommendations to the team.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
- Work closely with design engineers and systems engineers to understand the material requirements for aerospace systems and components.
- Assist in integrating material selection into the design and manufacturing processes.
- Help address material-related issues in the production process and ensure material performance during manufacturing and testing.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of material properties, test results, and related project information.
- Assist in preparing reports and summaries on material performance for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that all documentation is up to date and in compliance with regulatory standards and project requirements.
Research and Development:
- Participate in the research and development of new materials or new applications for existing materials in aerospace.
- Assist in evaluating emerging materials and technologies for potential use in aerospace projects.
- Support testing and evaluating advanced materials for future aerospace applications, such as lightweight composites and advanced alloys.
Learning and Development:
- Take part in training programs and on-the-job learning under the mentorship of senior engineers.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and advancements in aerospace engineering.
- Work towards developing expertise in aerospace materials and contribute to the team's ongoing learning.

Aerodynamics:
- Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
- Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
- Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
- Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
- Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Fresh graduates or those with 1-2 years of professional experience in materials science, aerospace, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of materials science principles, including mechanical properties, material behavior under stress, and selection criteria for aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with common aerospace materials, such as metals (aluminum, titanium), composites, and polymers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Familiarity with materials testing equipment and laboratory techniques is a plus, but not required.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision in material testing and analysis.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, report findings, and contribute to project discussions.
- A strong desire to learn and grow within the aerospace materials field.

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
