Job Title: Material Handling Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Material Handling Engineer – Fresher to join our engineering team. As a fresher in this role, you will be involved in designing, implementing, and optimizing material handling systems and solutions within our facility. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to learn how to improve the efficiency, safety, and reliability of material handling processes, such as conveyors, cranes, lifts, and other automated or manual systems. This position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates looking to start their career in material handling engineering and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Optimization of Material Handling Systems:

    • Assist in designing and analyzing material handling systems, including conveyors, palletizers, cranes, forklifts, and automated systems.
    • Learn to optimize material flow processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Support the design and implementation of layouts that maximize space utilization and improve workflow in the facility.
  2. System Implementation and Testing:

    • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new material handling systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
    • Help in conducting tests and troubleshooting systems to ensure that they function optimally.
    • Participate in system validation, making adjustments and modifications as necessary under the supervision of senior engineers.
  3. Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Learn to gather data on the performance of material handling systems, including cycle times, throughput, and downtime.
    • Assist in analyzing performance data to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
    • Support the creation of reports and documentation on system performance and improvement recommendations.
  4. Maintenance Support:

    • Assist in the maintenance of material handling systems, identifying issues and ensuring that equipment is operating properly to prevent downtime.
    • Help in routine inspections and basic repairs of material handling equipment.
    • Learn to apply preventive maintenance techniques to reduce the likelihood of system failures.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Assist in ensuring that material handling systems comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
    • Learn to apply safety protocols and guidelines in system design, operation, and maintenance.
    • Assist in conducting safety audits and identifying areas where safety measures could be improved.
  6. Learning and Skill Development:

    • Participate in on-the-job training and development programs to enhance your understanding of material handling systems and engineering principles.
    • Learn to use software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB) for system design, simulation, and analysis.
    • Collaborate with senior engineers to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge in material handling processes.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Material Handling System Design and Implementation:

    • Focus on learning how to design and implement efficient material handling systems to optimize material flow and improve productivity.
  2. Data Analysis and Optimization:

    • Support the analysis of system data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of material handling systems, learning preventive maintenance strategies and troubleshooting techniques.
  4. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure material handling systems adhere to safety standards and work towards creating a safe work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • Any coursework, projects, or internships related to material handling, logistics, or automation systems is a plus.
  2. Experience:

    • No prior professional experience required. This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience in material handling systems.
    • Any internships or academic projects related to material handling, automation, or mechanical design are beneficial.
  3. Skills:

    • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems and automation.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think analytically and creatively.
    • Ability to learn quickly, with a keen interest in improving systems and processes.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) is a plus.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Any relevant certifications in material handling systems, automation, or industrial engineering are a plus but not required.
    • OSHA or safety-related training is also beneficial.
