Job Title: Marine Surveyor
Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated Marine Surveyor at the fresher level to join our team and assist in the inspection, assessment, and evaluation of vessels and marine structures. As a Marine Surveyor, you will gain hands-on experience in surveying activities, including inspecting ships, offshore structures, and marine equipment for compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. This role offers the opportunity to develop practical surveying skills, participate in a variety of surveys, and grow within the marine industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Marine Surveys:
- Support senior marine surveyors in inspecting vessels, including hulls, machinery, and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Assist in conducting visual and technical inspections to assess the condition of marine structures, including ships, boats, docks, piers, and other maritime assets.
- Help evaluate the structural integrity of marine equipment and vessels, documenting any damages, deficiencies, or areas requiring repairs.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Assist in collecting data during surveys, including measurements, photographs, and notes on vessel conditions, equipment performance, and maintenance needs.
- Prepare basic reports and documentation of survey findings, including identifying issues and recommending solutions under the guidance of senior surveyors.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, assessments, and survey results for compliance purposes and future reference.
Safety and Compliance Monitoring:
- Ensure that all surveys are conducted in accordance with safety guidelines and regulatory standards, including those set by local maritime authorities, IMO, and classification societies.
- Assist in checking that vessels and marine structures meet compliance with environmental regulations, maritime laws, and industry safety standards.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and suggest corrective measures.
Technical Support:
- Assist in the use of specialized surveying equipment, such as ultrasonic thickness gauges, laser scanners, and other diagnostic tools used for inspecting vessels and structures.
- Learn how to interpret technical data and drawings related to vessel designs, machinery layouts, and marine systems.
- Support senior surveyors in conducting surveys related to the maintenance and repair of vessels, marine engines, and other maritime assets.
Training and Development:
- Participate in on-the-job training to enhance knowledge of marine surveying techniques, industry regulations, and relevant safety practices.
- Stay updated on new technologies, tools, and best practices in marine surveying to continuously improve technical skills and surveying knowledge.
- Develop understanding of maritime industry standards and regulatory frameworks related to marine surveying.

- Assist with inspections of vessels and marine structures, learning to assess the condition and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety standards during surveys and assist in identifying compliance issues with industry regulations.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Assist with gathering survey data and preparing accurate reports documenting findings and recommendations.
Training and Professional Development:
- Actively engage in training and mentoring from senior surveyors, developing your skills in the surveying process and maritime regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of marine surveying, shipbuilding, or the maritime industry is an advantage but not required.
Experience:
- No prior professional surveying experience required; however, internships or academic projects related to marine engineering or maritime studies would be beneficial.
- A keen interest in the maritime industry and marine operations.
Skills:
- Basic understanding of marine systems, vessel operations, and maritime safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately document observations and survey results.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to report findings clearly and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to use surveying tools and equipment is beneficial but not required, as on-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from senior surveyors.
Certifications (Preferred):
- STCW Basic Safety Training (or equivalent certification) is advantageous but not required.
- First Aid and CPR certification is beneficial.
