Job Title: Marine Instructor

Job Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Junior Marine Instructor to assist in training and educating students or personnel in marine operations, safety procedures, and industry best practices. In this role, you will support senior instructors in delivering training programs, conducting practical demonstrations, and ensuring students gain the necessary skills and knowledge for marine-related activities. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of maritime operations, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to educate and mentor others.

Key Responsibilities:

Training & Instruction:

  • Assist in delivering classroom and hands-on training sessions on marine safety, navigation, vessel operations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support senior instructors in preparing lesson plans, course materials, and training exercises.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations on marine equipment usage, emergency response, and operational techniques.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure students adhere to safety regulations and industry standards during training sessions.
  • Promote safe working practices and help instill a strong safety culture among trainees.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, STCW, IMO standards).

Course Development & Improvement:

  • Provide feedback on training programs and suggest improvements to enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on the latest marine industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Help maintain training records, attendance logs, and assessment documentation.

Equipment Handling & Maintenance:

  • Ensure training equipment, simulators, and marine tools are in good working condition.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining classroom and practical training environments.

Assessment & Reporting:

  • Assist in evaluating trainees’ performance through tests, simulations, and practical assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and support them in improving their skills.
  • Prepare reports on trainee progress and training outcomes for senior instructors and management.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Training & Education: Support the delivery of high-quality marine training programs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure trainees follow maritime regulations and best practices.
  • Practical Demonstrations: Assist in hands-on training with marine equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Course Development & Support: Contribute to the enhancement of training materials and instructional methods.
  • Student Assessment & Guidance: Help evaluate trainees’ knowledge and skills while providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • Marine-related certifications (e.g., STCW, SOLAS training) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 0-2 years of experience in maritime operations, training, or a related field.
  • Experience as a deck officer, marine engineer, or trainer is advantageous but not required.

Technical Expertise:

  • Basic knowledge of marine navigation, vessel operations, and maritime safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with marine simulators and training equipment is beneficial.
  • Understanding of international maritime laws and standards (IMO, SOLAS, STCW).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for effective instruction.
  • Ability to work in a team and support senior instructors in delivering training programs.
  • Good problem-solving skills and adaptability in a training environment.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring future maritime professionals.

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

  • STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) certification.
  • Basic Safety Training (BST) certification.
  • Marine First Aid & Emergency Response Training.
