Job Title: Marine Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Marine Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist at the fresher level to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of marine infrastructure. As a Junior Specialist, you will support the team in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining various marine structures, such as piers, docks, bulkheads, and other maritime facilities. You will work under the supervision of senior specialists and gain hands-on experience in marine construction, maintenance, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support Marine Infrastructure Maintenance:

    • Assist senior specialists with the inspection, repair, and maintenance of marine infrastructure, including docks, piers, wharfs, and seawalls.
    • Help perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, painting, and securing components of marine structures.
    • Assist in repairing damaged parts of the infrastructure and replacing components like fenders, pilings, and decking materials.
  2. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance tasks are carried out in compliance with safety standards, including relevant maritime regulations (e.g., OSHA, local environmental regulations).
    • Help conduct safety inspections, ensuring that all tools and equipment are used safely and properly.
    • Assist in the setup of safety barriers and ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by all team members during maintenance activities.
  3. Technical Support:

    • Assist in the operation of maintenance equipment such as cranes, power tools, and other machinery used in infrastructure repair and construction.
    • Help with the testing and monitoring of structural integrity using basic equipment like gauges and meters to identify potential issues.
    • Document maintenance activities, including equipment used, materials replaced, and any inspections performed, under the guidance of senior staff.
  4. Assist with Inspections:

    • Support the inspection of marine infrastructure for wear and tear, structural integrity, and safety compliance.
    • Participate in the examination of infrastructure, identifying signs of damage or deterioration that require repair or replacement.
    • Help create reports on findings, providing feedback and recommendations for future repairs or maintenance tasks.
  5. Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Work closely with senior specialists and other team members, following instructions and learning best practices in marine infrastructure maintenance.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss the progress of maintenance work, safety concerns, and any necessary training.
    • Support the team in meeting deadlines, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Participate in training sessions to develop a deeper understanding of marine infrastructure, maintenance techniques, and relevant safety protocols.
    • Engage in hands-on training to enhance technical skills and develop expertise in the maintenance of marine structures.
    • Stay updated on new tools, technologies, and best practices in marine infrastructure maintenance to enhance job performance.

    • Work effectively within a team, learning from senior specialists and contributing to the completion of maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
    • Some knowledge of marine infrastructure or construction techniques is desirable but not required.
  2. Experience:

    • No prior professional experience required; however, any internships or hands-on experience in construction, maintenance, or the marine industry will be beneficial.
    • A willingness to learn and gain practical knowledge in marine infrastructure maintenance.
  3. Skills:

    • Basic understanding of marine construction, maintenance, and safety practices.
    • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify issues and assist in repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in working with tools, machinery, and equipment used in infrastructure maintenance.
    • Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and senior staff.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new challenges and environments.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Basic Safety Training (STCW) certification or equivalent.
    • First Aid and CPR certification are beneficial.
    • Any relevant certifications in construction or marine operations are a plus but not required.
