Job Title: Marine Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Marine Engineer to join our team. In this leadership role, you will take on the responsibility of overseeing the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of complex marine systems and assets. You will collaborate with senior management, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that marine vessels, offshore platforms, and other maritime infrastructure operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering Leadership:
- Lead the design and optimization of complex marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, HVAC, automation, and structural systems for ships, offshore platforms, and maritime facilities.
- Oversee the preparation and review of engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and schematics, ensuring alignment with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Direct the selection of materials, components, and technologies for marine systems, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and safety standards.
Maintenance and Operational Support:
- Manage and oversee the maintenance strategy for all marine systems, including engines, generators, propulsion systems, and auxiliary systems aboard vessels and offshore assets.
- Provide expert guidance on troubleshooting complex system failures and lead root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Work with operations and technical teams to improve system efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize asset performance.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Lead and manage large-scale marine engineering projects, ensuring the successful execution of design, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring that all milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure the smooth execution of marine engineering projects.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Establish and enforce quality assurance procedures to ensure all marine systems are designed, installed, and maintained to meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Lead the commissioning and testing of new systems, reviewing test data to ensure systems perform as expected and meet the required specifications.
- Regularly review compliance with local and international regulations and make adjustments to systems and processes as necessary.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor, train, and develop junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Lead technical discussions and project reviews with internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering solutions and improve project outcomes.
- Manage the performance of the engineering team, providing feedback, coaching, and career development support to ensure high levels of performance.
Innovation and Process Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize marine systems, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in marine engineering to ensure the team implements cutting-edge solutions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to propose and implement strategies for improving engineering processes and increasing productivity across marine projects.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications or advanced studies in marine engineering or related disciplines are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in marine engineering, with significant exposure to design, maintenance, and optimization of marine systems for vessels, offshore platforms, and maritime infrastructure.
- Proven track record of managing and leading complex marine engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and cross-team coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, HVAC, automation, and structural systems, with experience in advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Strong experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, and IMO regulations, as well as local maritime safety standards.
Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of marine engineering software, including CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and simulation tools.
- Proficiency in designing and optimizing complex marine systems and components for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Strong understanding of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and performance monitoring tools.
Leadership and Project Management:
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams of engineers, fostering collaboration, and driving performance.
- Expertise in managing large-scale engineering projects, including resource allocation, risk management, and client liaison.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver projects within scope, time, and budget constraints.
