Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Mechanical Focus)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a Mechanical Focus to join our engineering team. In this senior-level role, you will take a leadership position in optimizing and improving manufacturing processes, managing complex projects, and ensuring that production systems meet high standards for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior engineers, implementing advanced manufacturing techniques, and working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and a strong drive for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Process Optimization:
- Lead efforts to continuously improve manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and product quality.
- Use advanced techniques such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process optimization methodologies to streamline operations.
- Oversee process validation, ensuring that manufacturing processes are scalable, reliable, and meet production demands.
- Implement process changes and monitor their effectiveness in enhancing production outcomes.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
- Collaborate with product design teams to ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability, with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and ease of production.
- Conduct detailed DFM analyses, identifying areas where product designs can be improved to reduce manufacturing complexity and increase production efficiency.
- Provide technical feedback to product designers on how to adjust designs to align with production capabilities.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Develop and implement robust quality control systems to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for quality issues and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Use statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to maintain high product standards.
Project Management:
- Manage complex manufacturing engineering projects from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with production schedules, budgets, and quality targets.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to implement new manufacturing processes or systems.
- Oversee the implementation of new machinery, equipment, or production lines, ensuring smooth integration into existing processes.
- Prepare and manage project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Machine and Equipment Optimization:
- Lead initiatives to optimize machine performance and reduce downtime by recommending machine improvements and upgrading equipment.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that equipment is maintained properly and is operating efficiently.
- Assist in the selection, installation, and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
Mentorship and Team Leadership:
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and process optimization.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to improve team knowledge and performance in manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Lead by example, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the engineering and production teams.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, identifying and mitigating potential hazards in the manufacturing environment.
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring that all team members are trained on and adhere to safety protocols.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving process efficiency, and enhancing overall production performance.
- Collaborate with teams to implement Lean practices, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve operational workflows.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies that support the company's growth and operational goals.

Machine and Equipment Performance:
- Optimize machine performance and work with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is running at peak efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems and process optimization.
- Proven experience in managing complex projects, improving manufacturing processes, and implementing process improvements.
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and machine optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and manufacturing process design tools.
- Advanced experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and industry standards for production and quality control.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide a team and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

Certifications (Preferred):
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), or similar certifications.
- OSHA or other safety-related certifications are beneficial.
