We are seeking a results-driven Mechanical Maintenance Manager with specialization in HVAC and Refrigeration systems to lead our maintenance operations and ensure maximum system reliability, efficiency, and compliance. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of mechanical system maintenance, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and team leadership in a 24/7 industrial environment.
HVAC and Refrigeration System Reliability
Ensure the optimal performance of chillers, air handlers, rooftop units, walk-in coolers/freezers, and industrial refrigeration systems (e.g., ammonia or Freon-based).
Minimize unplanned downtime through effective troubleshooting, repair, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs
Develop, implement, and continuously improve PM/PdM programs for HVAC/R systems.
Utilize CMMS software to track maintenance schedules, work orders, and equipment history.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, EPA, FDA (if applicable), and local environmental and refrigeration safety standards.
Ensure ammonia or refrigerant handling is done in accordance with PSM/RMP programs (where applicable).
Team Development & Supervision
Supervise a team of HVAC/R technicians, assigning daily tasks and long-term responsibilities.
Provide training, performance evaluations, and promote a safety-first culture.
Energy Management and Sustainability
Monitor and optimize energy usage in HVAC/R systems to reduce utility costs and environmental impact.
Lead efforts to modernize systems for energy efficiency and sustainable operation.
Project Management & Capital Improvements
Lead or support HVAC and refrigeration upgrade projects, including equipment selection, contractor management, and commissioning.
Provide engineering input for facility expansion, retrofitting, or remodeling projects.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of refrigerant usage, leak detection, inspections, repairs, and safety incidents.
Prepare monthly reports on system performance, maintenance KPIs, and compliance status.
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or Industrial Maintenance.
7+ years of HVAC and refrigeration experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
RETA certification (CARO, CIRO), or equivalent refrigeration safety training preferred.
Strong experience with ammonia refrigeration systems (if applicable).
Proficient with CMMS platforms, HVAC controls (BAS), and energy monitoring systems.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Expert knowledge of HVAC/R systems, controls, and industrial maintenance practices.
Ability to read technical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to work in both hot and cold environments (e.g., boiler rooms, cold storage).
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.
Occasional emergency call-ins or weekend work may be required.
