Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Maintenance Technician (Food Equipment) to lead our maintenance team in the food processing industry. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of food processing equipment, ensuring optimal operational performance and adherence to safety and quality standards. You will also provide technical guidance, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor mid-level and junior technicians, providing guidance on advanced troubleshooting techniques and maintenance best practices.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance tasks and projects.
  • Lead team meetings, share updates, and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Advanced Equipment Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Oversee and perform complex maintenance and repair tasks on food processing equipment, including ovens, mixers, conveyors, and packaging machines.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve recurring or complex equipment issues.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifecycle of critical machinery.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Plan and manage large-scale maintenance projects and upgrades, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external vendors as necessary.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations in all maintenance activities.
  • Conduct safety audits and ensure that all maintenance practices align with the highest safety standards.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of safety training programs for the maintenance team.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed reports on equipment performance and maintenance trends.
  • Ensure that documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Team Leadership: Guide and mentor maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled work environment.
  • Complex Troubleshooting: Resolve advanced equipment issues using sophisticated diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement and refine preventive maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Project Management: Lead significant maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced technical certifications in food equipment maintenance or related areas are preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in equipment maintenance within the food processing or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in supervising maintenance teams and managing complex projects.

Skills:

  • Strong technical aptitude with extensive knowledge of diagnostic tools and maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience in handling complex equipment issues.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and maintenance management software.
  • A proactive approach to safety and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are required.
  • Additional certifications in advanced mechanical or electrical maintenance will be an advantage.
