Job Description: Mid-Level Machine Operator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mid-Level Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, setup, and maintenance of various machines used in our manufacturing process. You will ensure the machinery operates efficiently, monitor production quality, and assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs. You will work closely with senior operators and production teams to ensure optimal machine performance and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate machines such as CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and other manufacturing equipment based on production requirements.
- Adjust machine settings, load materials, and ensure that the machine is configured correctly to meet specifications.
- Ensure continuous operation of machines, ensuring smooth workflow, and production goals are met.
Quality Monitoring and Inspections:
- Perform routine quality checks on machine outputs to ensure products meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to check dimensions and ensure product consistency.
- Identify any defects or irregularities in the product and take corrective actions as needed to maintain quality standards.
Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to keep machines running efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime during production.
- Work with maintenance teams for major repairs or equipment breakdowns, providing necessary information on machine malfunctions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols while operating machines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your teammates.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with all safety regulations during machine operation.
- Report any safety hazards, machine malfunctions, or workplace safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
Production Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor machine performance, production output, and material consumption to meet production targets.
- Report on machine performance, any issues encountered during production, and quality control deviations.
- Ensure production logs and records are updated with machine settings, maintenance activities, and inspection results.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any production challenges.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to resolve machine-related issues and meet production goals.
- Assist in training junior operators and new employees on machine operation and safety procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in machine efficiency, production processes, and product quality, suggesting improvements to supervisors or engineers.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and increasing production quality.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or training in machine operation or manufacturing processes is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in operating machinery in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating and setting up machinery such as CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) for quality control and inspections.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct machine or product issues before they affect production.
- Good communication skills for effective interaction with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently while ensuring high levels of productivity and quality.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
- Certifications related to machine operation, safety, or manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC certification, OSHA) are a plus.
