Working under close supervision, this role is responsible for verifying signal paths between field instruments and control panels or PLCs. The technician assists in ensuring proper operation of analog and digital signals critical to facility or launch ground support operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loop Testing Assistance:
Assist in performing point-to-point loop checks on analog and digital input/output signals between field devices (sensors, actuators) and control systems.

  • Cable Continuity Verification:
Help verify cable continuity and signal correctness using multimeters, signal simulators, and test sheets.

  • Instrument Identification & Tagging:
Label and verify instrument tags and ensure correct signal routing as per loop drawings or P&IDs.

  • Signal Simulation Support:
Support simulation of sensor and actuator signals to validate control system response under test conditions.

  • Documentation:
Record test results accurately in loop test forms and support field redlining of wiring diagrams and loop sheets.

  • Safety & Clean Workmanship:
Adhere to electrical safety procedures and maintain clean, professional cable routing and termination practices.

  • Tool Handling:
Properly use and maintain loop testing equipment such as multimeters, loop calibrators, and handheld communicators.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Learning & Accuracy:
Develop foundational skills in loop testing and follow instructions precisely to ensure system integrity.

  2. Signal Path Verification:
Focus on correct wiring terminations, continuity, and signal flow between field devices and control cabinets.

  3. Documentation Support:
Assist in maintaining up-to-date loop test records and ensure field changes are documented correctly.

  4. Collaboration:
Work closely with senior technicians, electricians, and I&C engineers during system commissioning and startup activities.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field

  • 0–2 years of experience in loop testing, I&C, or electrical systems (internships or field training acceptable)

  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, analog/digital signals, and instrumentation terminology

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and testing devices

  • Ability to read simple electrical drawings and loop sheets (with guidance)

  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety
