A Light Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting employees, passengers, or students using a light bus/minibus along assigned routes. The role focuses on safe driving, punctual pick-up/drop-off, vehicle cleanliness and basic checks, and compliance with traffic laws and company safety procedures.
Operate a light bus/minibus safely to transport passengers to/from assigned locations.
Follow designated routes and schedules; adjust routes when required by traffic or operations.
Ensure passenger safety: controlled boarding/disembarking, seatbelt reminders (if applicable), and safe stops.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections: brakes, tires, lights, horn, mirrors, wipers, fluid levels, and emergency equipment.
Maintain the bus in clean, presentable condition inside and out.
Keep accurate logs: trip sheets, mileage, fuel usage, and incident reports.
Monitor vehicle performance and report faults/maintenance needs promptly.
Comply with HSE rules: speed limits, no mobile use while driving, defensive driving, fatigue management.
Handle passenger concerns professionally and coordinate with supervisors/dispatch as needed.
Support operations with additional runs or transport tasks when required.
Strong knowledge of road safety, defensive driving, and local routes/areas.
Good time management and reliability—punctuality matters in transport roles.
Calm communication style and ability to manage passengers respectfully.
Basic literacy for completing reports and following route instructions.
Ability to handle emergencies appropriately (breakdown, accident, medical issue).
Valid license for light bus/minibus (as required by local regulations).
Clean driving record preferred.
Prior passenger transport experience preferred (company transport, school, hotel shuttle, etc.).
Safety training/certs are a plus: defensive driving, first aid, basic fire safety.
