As a Mid-Level Level Designer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering full levels or gameplay zones from concept to completion. This role requires hands-on experience in crafting engaging gameplay experiences, applying scripting logic, and balancing gameplay flow. You will work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure high-quality, immersive game environments.
Design and implement complete levels, missions, or zones from initial blockout to final polish.
Integrate gameplay mechanics, scripted events, combat encounters, and environmental storytelling.
Work closely with art, narrative, and engineering teams to maintain visual and gameplay cohesion.
Conduct playtests, evaluate player behavior, and iterate based on pacing, difficulty, and feedback.
Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, layout diagrams, and encounter flowcharts.
2–5 years of professional experience in level design, with at least one shipped title.
Strong grasp of spatial design, gameplay loops, and player progression.
Experience in AI behavior setup, pathfinding, and combat encounter design.
Demonstrated ability to work independently on mid-sized to large levels.
Portfolio showcasing diverse level types, encounter setups, and player flow.
Engines: Unreal Engine (Blueprints, Geometry Brushes, World Partition), Unity (ProBuilder, Timeline)
Scripting Tools: Blueprint scripting (UE), Unity C# for gameplay triggers, events, and logic
Version Control: Perforce, Git
Documentation & Planning: Photoshop, Miro, Figma, Google Docs for map sketches and layout breakdowns
Core Skillset:
