Job Summary:
The Lab Technician Supervisor oversees laboratory operations, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of testing procedures. This role involves supervising a team of technicians, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The Supervisor acts as a key liaison between the laboratory team and management, driving productivity and maintaining high standards in laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of lab technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion of testing procedures.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to enhance technical skills and productivity.
Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to maintain high operational standards.
Ensure all laboratory activities comply with industry regulations, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
Review and approve test results and reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
Conduct internal audits and prepare the lab for external inspections or certifications.
Oversee the daily functioning of the laboratory, including equipment availability, resource allocation, and workflow management.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline lab processes and improve efficiency.
Supervise the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and compliant with technical and regulatory standards.
Compile and present reports on lab activities, performance metrics, and project updates to management.
Maintain accurate records of tests, equipment maintenance, and quality control checks.
Act as a point of contact between technicians, management, and other departments to facilitate smooth operations.
Coordinate with external vendors for procurement, servicing, or calibration of laboratory equipment.
Comprehensive understanding of laboratory testing methods and quality control procedures.
Strong leadership and team management skills to effectively supervise and guide a diverse team.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, such as spectrophotometers, centrifuges, and pH meters.
Knowledge of regulatory standards ( ISO, GLP) and safety protocols relevant to laboratory operations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple tasks and ensuring accuracy.
Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
Certifications in laboratory management or quality assurance are advantageous.
5-7 years of experience in laboratory operations, including advanced testing and quality assurance roles.
Proven experience in leading or supervising a team in a laboratory setting.
Laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, and microscopes.
Calibration and maintenance tools for precision instruments.
Laboratory software for data management and analysis ( LIMS).
