Job Title: Lab Technician

The Lab Technician oversees the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves supervising and mentoring junior technicians, conducting advanced testing and analysis, and maintaining the functionality of laboratory equipment through regular calibration and troubleshooting. The Senior Lab Technician also develops protocols for complex procedures, prepares detailed reports, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in laboratory practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Manage the workflow of the lab, assigning tasks to technicians and monitoring progress.

  • Develop and implement advanced testing protocols and procedures for complex analyses.

  • Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of all laboratory equipment.

  • Review and validate the accuracy of test results and ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Collaborate with other departments to support project requirements and provide technical insights.

  • Mentor and train junior and mid-level lab technicians, enhancing their technical skills.

  • Stay updated on advancements in laboratory practices and incorporate new methodologies.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques, tools, and equipment.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Expertise in quality control, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges.

  • Proficiency in laboratory management software.


Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree or specialized certifications in laboratory management or advanced techniques are a plus.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Medical Device Control Systems: Assist in the testing and calibration of medical device control systems.
  2. Patient Monitoring Equipment: Support calibration and maintenance of patient monitoring devices.
  3. Regulatory Compliance (FDA, ISO standards): Ensure adherence to FDA regulations and ISO standards.
  4. Calibration and Maintenance: Assist in the calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in laboratory operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced analytical tools ( mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs)

  • Laboratory management software for workflow and data organization

  • Calibration and troubleshooting tools for high-precision equipment

Other Requirements:

  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining lab excellence.

  • Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and report findings.

  • Ability to innovate and drive improvements in lab processes and procedures.
