Job Summary:
The Junior Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, maintaining equipment, and preparing samples under the guidance of senior technicians or laboratory supervisors. This role involves following standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring accurate data collection, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Junior Lab Technician plays a key role in supporting laboratory operations and contributing to project success.
Prepare and test samples following prescribed methodologies and SOPs.
Operate laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, pH meters, and spectrophotometers, to perform routine analyses.
Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by calibrating equipment and performing quality checks.
Maintain and clean laboratory equipment regularly to ensure operational efficiency.
Assist in the calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
Record test results accurately and prepare detailed reports for review by senior staff.
Maintain proper documentation for sample tracking, test records, and equipment logs.
Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational safety guidelines.
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Provide support to senior technicians and supervisors during high-demand periods.
Basic knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment.
Familiarity with sample preparation techniques and quality control procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as SOPs and equipment manuals.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in work.
Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and addressing equipment malfunctions.
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
Certifications in laboratory practices or safety protocols are an advantage.
1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, conducting tests and maintaining equipment.
Hands-on experience with basic laboratory instruments and techniques is preferred.
Laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and microscopes.
Measuring instruments and calibration tools for accuracy checks.
Basic laboratory tools, such as pipettes, test tubes, and flasks.
Effective communication skills for reporting results and collaborating with team members.
