The Senior Inventory Control Engineer is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of valve inventory, lifecycle tracking, and spare parts optimization. This role ensures alignment with maintenance and operational goals to minimize downtime, reduce inventory costs, and improve supply chain efficiency for critical mechanical components. The position requires cross-functional leadership, driving process improvements, supplier collaboration, and the implementation of best-in-class inventory control practices.
Develop and lead valve inventory strategies aligned with maintenance schedules, asset management, and capital planning.
Oversee lifecycle tracking of valves, ensuring timely replacements, warranty management, and condition-based spare parts provisioning.
Lead critical spare parts classification, safety stock optimization, and obsolescence management programs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy, reduce excess stock, and improve inventory turnover.
Leverage ERP and CMMS data analytics to forecast valve spare part demand and optimize procurement cycles.
Implement advanced inventory control techniques such as ABC/XYZ analysis, just-in-time (JIT), and vendor-managed inventory (VMI).
Collaborate closely with maintenance, procurement, engineering, and warehouse teams to ensure end-to-end valve inventory visibility and availability.
Lead supplier engagement for spare parts lead times, quality assurance, and lifecycle support.
Facilitate training and mentoring for junior inventory engineers and team members on valve tracking and inventory best practices.
Prepare and present senior management reports on valve inventory performance, lifecycle status, cost impacts, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements regarding storage and handling of valve components.
Manage audits and quality assurance processes related to inventory and spare parts management.
Bachelorโs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Required)
Masterโs degree or professional certifications (CIPS, CPM, Six Sigma, API Q1/Q2) preferred
7+ years of experience in inventory control, supply chain management, or maintenance support with a focus on valves and mechanical equipment
Proven leadership experience in managing inventory teams and driving process excellence
Expert knowledge of valve specifications, maintenance lifecycle, and spare parts management
Advanced proficiency in ERP (SAP, Oracle), CMMS (Maximo, Infor EAM), and data analytics tools
Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
Analytical mindset with a track record of driving cost savings and inventory optimization
