Job Title: Junior - Internet Service Providers (ISP) Technicians

Job Summary

The Junior ISP Technician is a vital entry-level position within the telecommunications sector, focusing on the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Internet Service Provider (ISP) network services. This role is designed for individuals eager to start their careers in technology, providing essential support to senior technicians. The Junior ISP Technician will engage directly with customers, ensuring their connectivity needs are met while gaining hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving basic technical issues. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and the efficient operation of network equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and Configuration:
    • Assist in installing broadband, fiber optic, and other ISP network equipment at customer sites.
    • Perform basic configuration of modems, routers, and Wi-Fi access points, ensuring correct setup and functionality.
  • Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Provide first-line troubleshooting support for customers, diagnosing basic connectivity and hardware issues.
    • Perform onsite and remote troubleshooting to resolve customer issues under supervision.
  • Maintenance:
    • Conduct routine checks on network hardware and troubleshoot simple issues.
    • Replace or repair faulty equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain records of installation tasks, repairs, and service tickets.
    • Document recurring issues and resolutions for future reference.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (LAN, WAN, IP addressing).
  • Knowledge of common ISP equipment (modems, routers, Wi-Fi systems).
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with networking hardware.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.

Educational Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in Telecommunications or related field.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Learning and applying basic network troubleshooting and installation techniques.
  • Supporting senior technicians in the configuration and setup of network services.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient and prompt service delivery.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience in a technical or customer service role.

Tools and Equipment

  • Basic network testing tools (e.g., cable testers).
  • Modems, routers, Wi-Fi access points.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in different weather conditions for on-site installations.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for travel to customer locations.
