Job Title: Instrumentation and Metrology Engineer
Job Summary:
The Instrumentation and Metrology Manager oversees all aspects of calibration, maintenance, and optimization of precision measurement and instrumentation systems. This role involves strategic planning, managing cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovation to enhance operational efficiency. The Manager is responsible for aligning metrology and instrumentation practices with organizational objectives while fostering team development and ensuring consistent quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for instrumentation and metrology operations to meet organizational goals.
- Define objectives, allocate resources, and oversee the execution of calibration and maintenance schedules.
- Align measurement system practices with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.
System Oversight and Optimization:
- Oversee the operation, calibration, and optimization of advanced instrumentation systems, including CMM, pressure calibrators, and laser measurement devices.
- Ensure system reliability through predictive maintenance programs and process improvement initiatives.
- Monitor performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective measures.
Project Management:
- Lead large-scale projects related to the implementation of new measurement technologies, system upgrades, and retrofits.
- Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align project objectives with business priorities.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all metrology activities comply with international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI, and NIST.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain the integrity of measurement processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality assurance practices.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs for team development.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in metrology and instrumentation.
- Drive the adoption of automation and advanced analytics tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and lead initiatives to enhance system capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies regarding metrology operations.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on system performance, project progress, and compliance metrics to senior leadership.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on objectives and deliverables.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or advanced metrology (ISO/IEC 17025) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in instrumentation, calibration, or metrology roles, with significant leadership experience.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving operational improvements.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise in advanced diagnostic tools, calibration equipment, and metrology software (Minitab, MATLAB).
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance and automation technologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
