Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Tube Fitter

Job Summary:

The Instrumentation and Control Tube Fitter is responsible for managing and overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of tubing systems for instrumentation and control equipment across multiple projects or teams. This role involves coordinating with engineers and fitters, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and delivering projects within defined timelines. The Supervisor leads teams, resolves escalated technical issues, and ensures alignment with organizational and project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the installation and maintenance of tubing systems for complex instrumentation and control equipment.

  • Plan and allocate tasks to tube fitting teams, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting project deadlines.

  • Inspect and approve work performed by team members, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers to define tubing system requirements and resolve technical challenges.

  • Develop maintenance schedules and procedures for tubing systems, ensuring long-term reliability and functionality.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members, improving their skills and efficiency.

  • Monitor and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and materials required for tubing projects.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of project activities, including progress reports and incident records.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure adherence to organizational safety and quality standards.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of tubing systems, materials, and fittings ( stainless steel, copper, PTFE).

  • Proficiency in advanced tube fitting tools, including hydraulic benders, flaring tools, and swaging tools.

  • Strong understanding of P&IDs, isometric drawings, and technical schematics.

  • Leadership skills to manage teams and coordinate with cross-functional departments effectively.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address escalated technical issues.

  • Familiarity with industry standards ( ASME, ISO, API) and compliance requirements.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in pipefitting, instrumentation, or a related field.

  • Additional leadership or management certifications are a plus.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in tube fitting, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Supervising the installation, maintenance, and optimization of tubing systems to ensure reliable process control operations.
  • SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Overseeing the integration and troubleshooting of tubing networks for SCADA-enabled instrumentation, ensuring system efficiency.
  • Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Managing teams in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of tubing solutions for safety-critical and emergency systems.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring team adherence to environmental and regulatory standards for tubing installations, coordinating audits, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced tube fitting tools ( orbital welders, hydraulic benders, pressure testing kits).

  • Leak detection equipment, flow meters, and pressure gauges.

  • Inventory management tools for tracking equipment and materials.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple teams and projects.

  • Excellent communication skills for team coordination and reporting to stakeholders.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

  • Flexibility to travel to project sites and work in dynamic field environments.
