The Instrumentation and Control Tube Fitter leads the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex tubing systems for instrumentation and control equipment. This role involves managing high-level technical tasks, supervising teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The Senior Tube Fitter is responsible for troubleshooting advanced system issues, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the success of large-scale projects.
Lead the installation, assembly, and configuration of complex tubing systems for instrumentation and control equipment.
Design and modify tubing layouts based on project requirements and technical specifications.
Conduct advanced troubleshooting and resolve critical issues in tubing systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
Oversee system testing and inspections, ensuring all components meet industry standards and are free of defects or leaks.
Collaborate with engineers to plan and execute large-scale projects, providing technical expertise and recommendations.
Supervise and train junior and mid-level tube fitters, ensuring high levels of skill and efficiency within the team.
Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, test results, and modifications for reporting and auditing purposes.
Implement and enforce safety and quality protocols during all activities.
Contribute to the selection and procurement of materials and tools to meet project needs effectively.
Expert knowledge of tubing systems, materials, and fittings, including stainless steel, copper, and other specialized materials.
Proficiency in using advanced tubing tools ( hydraulic benders, orbital welding machines, and swaging tools).
Strong understanding of technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and isometric layouts.
Leadership and team management skills to supervise and mentor a diverse team.
In-depth familiarity with industry standards ( ASME, ISO, API) and regulatory compliance requirements.
Advanced problem-solving skills to address and resolve critical system challenges effectively.
High school diploma or equivalent; advanced certifications in pipefitting, instrumentation, or mechanical engineering are preferred.
7+ years of experience in tubing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and teams.
Advanced hydraulic tubing tools ( tube benders, orbital welders, swaging tools).
Leak detection systems, pressure gauges, and flow meters for diagnostic tasks.
Specialized hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills for team coordination and stakeholder interactions.
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities and field conditions.
Willingness to travel to project sites and work in challenging environments.
