Job Title: Instrumentation & Control Maintenance Technician (Power Plants)
Job Summary:
The Fresher Instrumentation & Control Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems in power plants. This role involves learning to calibrate, repair, and maintain sensors, transmitters, controllers, and other instrumentation devices to ensure reliable plant operations. The technician works under the supervision of senior staff to gain foundational knowledge and develop technical skills while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Assist in the installation and wiring of instrumentation and control equipment, such as sensors, transmitters, and actuators.
- Support routine maintenance activities, including cleaning, calibrating, and replacing instrumentation components.
- Learn to test and verify the accuracy of instrumentation systems using diagnostic tools.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Observe and assist in diagnosing faults in instrumentation and control systems, including SCADA and DCS components.
- Perform basic repairs under supervision, ensuring the functionality of equipment and systems.
- Document issues and escalate complex problems to senior technicians or engineers for resolution.
System Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor system performance and report abnormalities or inconsistencies to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including calibration data and test results.
- Support the preparation of basic reports on equipment status and maintenance findings.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow organizational safety protocols and industry standards during all maintenance activities.
- Participate in safety training programs and adhere to environmental and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in testing and maintaining safety-critical systems, such as emergency shutdown devices.
Learning and Development:
- Attend training sessions to develop technical skills in instrumentation and control systems.
- Gain familiarity with industrial automation systems, including SCADA, DCS, and PLCs.
- Build foundational knowledge of power plant operations and control system integration.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and report system issues.
- Awareness of safety standards and best practices in industrial environments.
- Basic proficiency in documentation and reporting.
Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma or Associate’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic certification or training in instrumentation or control systems is an advantage.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to instrumentation and control systems are beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with basic diagnostic tools, including multimeters, pressure calibrators, and signal generators.
- Exposure to SCADA/DCS systems and PLC platforms is advantageous but not mandatory.
