Job Title: Instrumentation Designer (Electrical Systems)

Job Summary:

The Manager-Level Instrumentation Designer (Electrical Systems) is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and integration of instrumentation systems within electrical networks, ensuring adherence to international safety standards and optimal performance. This role involves strategic leadership, project management, and technical expertise to drive innovation, team development, and project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Leadership:

    • Develop and oversee advanced instrumentation designs for power distribution networks, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
    • Manage integration of SCADA and PLC systems with instrumentation to achieve real-time monitoring and automation.
    • Approve and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for projects.
  2. Compliance and Standards:

    • Ensure all designs adhere to IEC, NEC, and other international safety and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular design audits and risk assessments to maintain compliance and safety protocols.
  3. Project Management:

    • Lead multiple instrumentation design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams, to align project goals with organizational objectives.
  4. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

    • Drive innovation by incorporating emerging technologies in instrumentation design, such as IoT, AI, and advanced analytics.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance system performance and reliability.
  5. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide training opportunities, and support professional growth within the team.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

    • Act as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
    • Prepare and present detailed project reports, proposals, and technical documents to senior management and clients.
  7. Budgeting and Resource Management:

    • Manage project budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Power Distribution Networks

    • Expertise in designing and managing instrumentation for power distribution systems.
  2. SCADA and PLC Systems

    • Proficiency in integrating and optimizing SCADA and PLC systems with instrumentation.
  3. Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

    • Thorough understanding of electrical safety standards and their application in instrumentation design and implementation.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation design, including 3–5 years in a managerial role.
  3. Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, or equivalent).
    • Excellent understanding of power systems, SCADA/PLC technologies, and safety standards.
    • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  4. Certifications:

    • Relevant certifications such as IEC/NEC compliance or SCADA/PLC-specific credentials are a plus.
