Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Support:

    • Assist in designing electrical instrumentation systems, including wiring diagrams, layouts, and system integration for various industrial processes.
    • Create and modify technical drawings, schematics, and control system diagrams using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
    • Support the design of electrical circuits, power distribution, control panels, instrumentation, and other components required for the electrical systems.
    • Work with senior engineers to ensure designs meet specifications and comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  2. System Specifications and Documentation:

    • Help prepare specifications for electrical equipment, control panels, and instrumentation, ensuring that all components meet required performance standards.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining design documentation, including system configurations, wiring diagrams, installation instructions, and operation manuals.
    • Ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date, and is available for future maintenance, repairs, and audits.
  3. Collaboration with Engineering Teams:

    • Collaborate with senior instrumentation engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure the design is aligned with the project requirements.
    • Work closely with other departments such as procurement and construction to support the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
    • Participate in design review meetings, providing input on system functionality, equipment specifications, and design improvements.
  4. Testing and Validation Support:

    • Assist in testing electrical systems and instrumentation during the design and installation phases to verify functionality and performance.
    • Help in identifying and troubleshooting any design-related issues or failures during system testing and provide recommendations for improvements.
    • Support the calibration and verification of electrical instrumentation, ensuring systems perform as expected.
  5. Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure that designs comply with electrical safety standards, codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA).
    • Follow all established safety protocols during design, testing, and installation phases to minimize hazards and ensure the safety of the work environment.
    • Assist senior engineers in conducting risk assessments and ensuring that the designs meet safety standards.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop knowledge and skills related to electrical instrumentation and system design under the guidance of senior engineers.
    • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and technical seminars to stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies.
    • Take on additional responsibilities as experience grows and actively contribute to design projects.
  7. Project Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in preparing regular project status reports and tracking the progress of design tasks.
    • Ensure that all design changes, system configurations, and other modifications are documented clearly and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
    • Assist in generating design progress reports and provide updates to project teams.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, such as AutoCAD or similar tools for electrical system design and drafting.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create accurate technical drawings and system designs.
  • Good problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical expertise in instrumentation and electrical systems design.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant coursework or academic projects related to electrical systems design, instrumentation, or control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) is a plus but not required.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Understanding the fundamentals of instrumentation design for power distribution systems.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Learning the basics of integrating instrumentation designs with SCADA and PLC systems.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Familiarizing with IEC, NEC, and other safety standards relevant to instrumentation design.
