The Senior Instrument Installation Technician is responsible for leading the installation and alignment of cable trays, instrument tubing, and associated supports for control and measurement systems. This role oversees site execution, guides junior teams, ensures installation accuracy per design, and enforces strict safety and quality standards across complex industrial environments.
Technical Supervision – Lead cable tray and tubing installations, ensuring all work is completed according to engineering drawings and project specifications.
Advanced Tubing Fabrication – Execute complex routing, bending, and connection of stainless steel/copper tubing for impulse, pneumatic, and hydraulic signals.
Drawing Review & Redlining – Interpret and verify P&IDs, layout drawings, and isometrics; ensure redlines reflect as-built conditions.
Team Coordination & Training – Supervise and mentor junior technicians and ensure productivity, safety, and quality on-site.
Safety & Compliance Leadership – Enforce compliance with site safety policies, quality standards (IEC/ISA/API), and permit-to-work systems.
Plan and oversee installation sequences for cable trays and tubing across elevated structures, racks, and control rooms.
Supervise mounting and routing of trays with consideration for separation, accessibility, and maintainability.
Perform high-precision tubing work including compression fittings, ferrule installations, and leak tests.
Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams to avoid installation clashes and maintain schedule alignment.
Validate installation work against project QA/QC checklists and assist in handover documentation preparation.
Monitor resource use, material needs, and ensure compliance with project standards and safety expectations.
Support construction progress reports and attend coordination meetings with site leads or client reps.
Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Electrical Technology.
7–10 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation installation with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
Strong working knowledge of instrument tray routing standards, tubing practices (ANSI, ISA), and mechanical support systems.
Familiar with industrial installation standards and environments (e.g., power plants, refineries, chemical plants).
Expert in tubing tools (benders, swaging tools, flare tools) and cable tray assembly practices.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and provide field adjustments.
Effective leadership, task planning, and team supervision skills.
Strong safety orientation and understanding of industrial worksite hazards.
Clear documentation and verbal communication abilities.
