The Senior Instrument Hook-up Drafter/Designer is responsible for leading the development and review of instrument hook-up drawings, installation details, and material take-offs (MTOs) for major industrial projects. The role involves cross-discipline coordination, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring all design deliverables meet client specifications and international standards.
Independently prepare mechanical and pneumatic hook-up drawings for a wide range of field instruments (e.g., transmitters, control valves, analyzers).
Ensure drawings include all required accessories: impulse lines, supports, brackets, tubing, JB connections, and more.
Customize hook-ups based on project/client standards and functional requirements.
Review and approve hook-up drawings and installation details prepared by junior designers.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, ISA/IEC standards, and drafting best practices.
Provide redlines and technical guidance for drawing corrections and updates.
Prepare and validate MTOs for instrumentation installations.
Work with procurement teams to ensure correct materials are identified and ordered.
Optimize material usage through design standardization and field coordination.
Coordinate with piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to resolve routing or interference issues.
Support field engineering and construction teams with technical clarification, redline markups, and as-built updates.
Attend model reviews and site visits to validate installation feasibility and drawing accuracy.
Guide and mentor junior and mid-level drafters, ensuring consistent quality and productivity.
Assist in the development of design standards, CAD libraries, and hook-up drawing templates.
Support training initiatives and documentation best practices.
