The Senior Instrument Cable Tray Installer is responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of cable tray installation activities related to instrument cabling. The role requires expert knowledge in tray types, routing standards, layout interpretation, and field modifications. The installer ensures all work is performed to the highest quality and safety standards while guiding junior team members.
Lead the installation of cable tray systems (ladder, perforated, wire mesh) for instrumentation and control cables.
Ensure all installations meet project drawings, engineering specs, and international standards (ISA, IEC).
Conduct precision layout work including leveling, alignment, and routing in complex plant environments.
Independently interpret and resolve issues related to tray routing clashes, elevation adjustments, and structural obstructions.
Coordinate with civil, piping, and electrical teams to avoid interferences.
Lead tray modification activities including cutting, fitting, and fabricating tray accessories on-site.
Supervise and mentor junior installers and helpers, assigning daily tasks and monitoring work quality.
Ensure proper sequencing of cable tray work to match project schedules and milestones.
Liaise with supervisors, QA/QC personnel, and project engineers to ensure inspection readiness.
Perform inspections on completed tray sections, ensuring correct spacing, support intervals, and separation between signal/power trays.
Prepare punch list closures and participate in quality walkthroughs with clients or consultants.
Keep documentation and redline updates for as-built layouts if deviations occur.
Champion safe work practices, including hazard identification, working at height, lifting, and hot work procedures.
Participate in site toolbox talks, daily briefings, and safety audits.
Ensure proper housekeeping, tool control, and safe use of scaffolding/ladders.

Strong leadership, decision-making, and team coordination skills on busy construction sites.
Knowledge of international installation standards (ISA, IEC, NEC) and project QA/QC procedures.
Understanding of tray segregation principles for instrumentation vs. power systems.
ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical fields
Minimum 5+ years of experience in cable tray installation for instrumentation systems
Experience working on EPC, industrial plant, or brownfield/greenfield projects preferred
Safety certifications (e.g., work at height, confined space) are an advantage
