The Junior Instrument Air and Tubing Technician is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrument air lines and stainless-steel tubing used in process and utility instrumentation. This includes supporting air supply line routing, tubing hook-ups, leak testing, and ensuring correct integration with field instrumentation under supervision.
Assist in the installation and routing of instrument air lines and stainless-steel/copper tubing.
Support swaging, tube bending, and clamping activities for connecting pneumatic devices such as transmitters, control valves, and positioners.
Help identify and repair minor leaks, blocked lines, and damaged connections in instrument air systems.
Learn to read and follow hook-up diagrams, tubing layouts, and isometric drawings.
Maintain and clean tools, tubing materials, and work area as per safety and housekeeping standards.
Assist in checking air pressures and verifying proper operation of pneumatic circuits.
Report material shortages, damage, or technical issues to the senior technician or supervisor.
Follow proper safety procedures including LOTO, working at heights, and use of PPE.
Participate in toolbox talks and training sessions related to tubing practices and safety.
ITI or Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Mechanical Fitting, or Industrial Maintenance
0–2 years of experience in instrumentation tubing or mechanical installation (internship or training preferred)
Basic understanding of instrument air systems and pneumatic control principles
Familiarity with basic tools: tube benders, swaging tools, cutters, and leak detection sprays
Willingness to work in outdoor/plant environments under senior supervision
Good mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
Attention to detail in fitting and routing tasks
Strong safety awareness and ability to follow standard work instructions
Team player with basic communication and reporting skills
Physical fitness and readiness for site-based tasks
