Job Title: Mid-Level - IP Planning

Job Summary

The Mid-Level IP Planning professional is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing the organization’s IP address structure. This role ensures efficient use of IP address space and supports the integration of IP planning with network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, along with hands-on experience in network engineering and telecommunications. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the organization's network, facilitating seamless communication and connectivity across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement efficient IP address schemes for enterprise and service provider networks.
  • Manage IPv4 to IPv6 migration strategies and address exhaustion mitigation plans.
  • Work with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) to ensure proper IP allocation and network efficiency.
  • Collaborate with network security teams to enforce IP access controls and security best practices.
  • Conduct audits of IP address utilization and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Monitor and manage IP conflicts, duplicate addresses, and DNS/DHCP interactions.
  • Implement IP policies in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain IP planning documentation, IPAM databases, and topology maps.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Strong understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and supernetting.
  • Hands-on experience with IP routing, VLAN segmentation, and network topology planning.
  • Proficiency in using IPAM tools, network monitoring, and automation scripts.
  • Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, and network segmentation strategies.
  • Ability to integrate IP planning with DNS, DHCP, and security policies.
  • Experience with troubleshooting IP-related issues in large-scale environments.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related field.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIS, or equivalent certification in networking and IP planning.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, IP planning, or telecommunications.

Tools and Equipment

  • Advanced IPAM Solutions (e.g., Infoblox, Men&Mice, NetBox).
  • Routing & Switching Platforms (e.g., Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, Huawei VRP).
  • Network Analysis Tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetFlow analyzers).

Other Requirements

  • Ability to handle large-scale IP address management and troubleshooting.
  • Strong project management and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
